I'M STILL HERE!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven't abandoned HLBOES or HSKS. There's a slight dementor infestation here at the moment which makes it difficult to be involved as much as I would like to be. Hopefully, I'll be able to get it under control soon. Hope everyone is having fun!

APPARITIONS HOMEWORK/HISTORY OF MAGIC EXTRA CREDIT - HLBOES

This is the bookmark I did for my Apparitions Homework. Our History of Magic Professor has allowed me to use it towards an extra credit assignment in that class. I've been wanting to make this bookmark for some time. This was the perfect excuse to finally do it! The pattern is Emma Wigworthy's based on Kaae's Hufflepuff pattern.

HSKS7 HOMEWORK

1. Do you knit or crochet?
- Both, but I much prefer knitting

How long have you been at your craft?
- Can't remember...learned both a long time ago, but have just started up again after many years of not doing either.

-No

3. Are there any other crafts that you participate in?
-Quilting, Tatting, Cross Stitch, Scherenschnitte, Hardanger....

4. What are your favorite yarns/fibers?
- I'm not a yarn connoisseur, can't afford to be. I don't know any brands really. I mainly use acrylic for myself. (I know some of you are cringing!) I only splurge on special yarn if it's for someone else.

5. What are your LEAST favorite yarns/fibers?
-n/a

6. Are there any types/brands of yarn that you are dying to work with but haven’t gotten a chance?
-Again, I'm not familiar with them. Maybe you guys can educate me!

7. What are you currently working on?
-Three hats, a pair of slippers, two pairs of socks, a bag, a sweater,...and a partridge in a pear tree.

8. Are their any knitting/crochet techniques that you would like to learn?
-Toe up socks, two-socks-at-once with circulars (I currently do two at once on DPNs)

9. Do you have a yarn winder and/or a swift?

11. Do you like sweets? What are your favorites?
-Maribo Mint Crunch, Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans, Peppermint, Reeses, Corn Flake Ritter Sport

12. Are you having a birthday during this swap?
-9 March

MY REDUCIO PACKAGE HAS ARRIVED!!

I have received a fantastic package from the 'Puff Love Committee' aka (Pretywtch)! I did manage to take the photos before eating any of the many yummies, but only just! The chocolate was a close one! And the Earl Grey is perfect for a cold day like today! It's one of my favorite teas! (If you click on the photo, you get a nice close up of all the goodies and the lovely letter!)

The Hufflepuff sock is so adorable! I love it! I'm fascinated by crocheted socks; I've never tried it before. And the Huffle colors! Huzzah Hufflepuff! I'm coming to love the Huffle colors more and more just because of what they represent.

One of Pretywtch's creatures did manage to sneak into the package, but he's so cute, he's definitely welcome to stay!

The mini Huffle sock and Pufferpod stitchmarkers! I love them! They are so cool!

I just love my 'Hufflepuff Garden Fun Kit'! This package is just so clever and lovely! I love gardens so the calendar and little plaque and stickers are perfect, not to mention the pine tree seeds! Pine trees are one of my favorite trees! I am in an appartment now, but I'm saving to get my own place; the tree will be my first addition to my new home!

THANK YOU, PRETYWTCH!!

FIRST ASSIGNMENT - HSKS7

We were asked to answer one of the following questions:

1) when did you first learn to knit - who taught you, how did you learn, what was your first project? or
2) What is your favorite knitting project and why? Was it the yarn your chose? Shaping? What drew you to it?

I can't really answer the first. I only remember that my mother taught me. So, as for the second question:

I've just recently gotten back into knitting after years of not knitting anything at all, so I haven't a lot of projects to choose from, but I have to say that my favorite knitting projects right now are my Hufflepuff socks! I have two pair. Well, one pair is a bit Dobbyish because, at the time I knitted them, I suffered from single-sock syndrome so I have two socks of different Hufflepuff patterns that I wear together. (I'm not much into symmetry anyway.) The other pair is Kaae's pattern with the badger paw. I just love the design! It's so cool! I'm sure she's tired of reading my posts about how cool I think it is, but, well, this is an assignment, after all!

DIVINATION HOMEWORK _ HLBOES
Our assignment for Divination was to illustrate the proper way to drink tea for reading tea leaves. I didn't catch the actual drinking part, but the preparation after drinking.

The dregs are to be swirled in a clockwise direction three times(I hope that is what my picture shows!) and then up and around the edges of the cup. The leaves are now ready for reading!

(Ok, so it's a REALLY BIG bookmark! (About the size of an index card) My printer is out of ink so I couldn't easily reduce the size of my template...
