DIVINATION HOMEWORK
Here's a teacup I made to use in Divination Class! It's double knit with a light color inside to make reading tea leaves easier, but I couldn't resist 'painting' it Huffle on the outside! It's also my first attempt at felting and I'm rather pleased with the result! A good impervious charm keeps it dry long enough to enjoy a cuppa and linger over the meanings left behind.
The light color inside shows the shapes created by the tea leaves more clearly, and so makes it easier to distinguish between, say, a grim and a sheep. This is important as it could save the person who is having their leaves read a lot of panic and anxiety.....Though, I suppose it could also cause someone great distress to find that their destiny is to work with sheep.
Baaaa!

MY FIRST ASSIGNMENT!
Professor Prendolyn the Weird has given us an early assignment. She says it's to test the format, but it's probably really to keep us early arrivals out of trouble! Good luck, Professor!
Well, off to the library to do some research!

NADOLIG LLAWEN!----- HAPPY CHRISTMAS!
Here's hoping for a white Christmas this year! Love the snow!
Actually, we always have a white Christmas here on the mountain because my dad puts a charm around our land so that it snows. One year he got a little carried away and buried the whole house. It took him three days to clear it!
I've been having dementor problems lately, so I haven't been very active around the sites. Dementors like to hang around my place and I'm not very good at patronus charms. Just have to keep pushing forward!

THE HEEL
I've finished the heel on my socks! The pattern called for a short row heel, which I'd never done before, so I was trying to learn how to do a short row heel AND not knit my two socks together at the same time! And, yes, there were some tears as I ripped out the first half of the heel which I had been working on for three hours. (I STRONGLY recommend that, if you don't already know how to do a short row heel, you learn BEFORE trying the double-knit-two-socks-at-a-time method!)
Anyway, here they are. I believe the toe is worked the same as the heel, so I hope that it will go a bit easier!
I started with black on one sock and yellow on the other so that it would be easier to see which side I was working on. So the stripes alternate and the heel on one is black and the other is yellow. In the picture below, I rolled up the leg of the outer sock to show the inside sock.
The picture above shows the wrong side of the yellow heel. The picture below shows the right side of the black heel.
Tada! I'll post photos of the finished product when I get that far!

NEGLIGENCE!
I've been having so much fun running around Ravelry, that I've been neglecting my blog! As the blog will be part of my homework at school, I'd better get in the habit of keeping up with it!
I've learned two new knitting techniques! The provisional cast on was part of a hat pattern I wanted to do. I had never heard of such a thing so the instructions sounded strange to me. Nevertheless I pressed on with blind faith in the designer. Imagine my eyes growing wide with wonder as I gently tugged the end of the waste yarn and it fell away, leaving my first row stitches neatly behind. I was in awe.
The second thing I learned has changed my life forever. Well, it's changed my view of knitting socks forever, anyway. My attention span for knitting patterns is extremely limited. Once I've finished one sock, I'm ready to move on to the next project, not knit another identical object!
Well, upon hearing of my dilemma, Lizzie Wychwood and Kaae came to my rescue! Knitting TWO SOCKS AT THE SAME TIME! This is such a great technique, I don't think I'll ever knit one sock at a time again! (Even if I only need one!)
I'll post pictures of the socks I'm working on as soon as I can find the cable to my camera! Unfortunately, I haven't seen it since I moved in April!

Dear Mum and Dad,
Thanks for letting me come to Hogwarts. I'm having a blast, and term hasn't even started yet! I'm having a LOT of fun exploring the castle and have even met some of the professors and the headmistress, who all seem really cool.
Yes, I remember what you said about staying out of trouble and not jinxing my little brother. (sly grin) I'll do my best.
It's supposed to snow here today, but all I've seen is a little rain.
Will write again, soon.

I'M GOING BACK TO HOGWARTS!
The parents have finally relented. (I think they just want me out of the house by now!) I'm all packed and ready to go! Hope I make the Hufflepuff quidditch team this year!

I'm on Ravelry now! (as SianHuws)
I'm new to Blogging and Forums, so, please be patient if I stumble around a bit for awhile! (Refer to my earlier post. My brother is SO going to get it when I can remember which one he is!)
Swaps are also new to me, so any help in keeping me out of trouble in any and all of the above is appreciated!
I never knew there were so many swaps! I want to join them all!....Unfortunately, I'm a slow knitter, so I'd better pace myself!

MISSING WARTHOGS
Why I missed this school term: (to clarify the possibly confusing earlier blog)
It was decided that I should be schooled at home this term after an overexuberant confundus charm cast on me by my brother when he was losing at wizard chess during the summer holidays. (Did he get in trouble for that!!...?...I think.) The past few months are still a little murky; I've recently come home from an extensive stay at St. Mungos. (At least, that's what they tell me.)
I don't know why they won't let me return to school until next term; I'm perfectly fine now. And it's so boring here on my own. I've always enjoyed Herbology lessons with Professor Snape, and Charms with Hagrid, trips to Pigsale, the Halloween Feast every February....
Well, parents will be parents. So, here I sit, eagerly awaiting the time when I will be allowed to walk up the steps of my beloved Warthogs.....Hogwarts. (sigh)

Croeso! Welcome!
This blog came into being in hopes of being involved in HSKS7 next year. It looks like a facinating swap! I am new to blogging, so many of my posts for awhile will be "experimental". (grin)
HSKS was introduced to me by Kaae, though she doesn't know it. When googling "Hufflepuff knit patterns", her fantastic Hufflepuff socks showed up (which I have knitted and I love them!).
I'm sad that I missed HSKS6 and can't join until next term, but would love to get to know my fellow future classmates! I have also put in for an invite to Ravelry as Headmistress Wartbobble has told me that that is the best way to get to know the HSKS folk.
